FitLab can assist with your weight loss goals, aid in sports performance, and also specializes in heart rate-based cardio program development!

FitLab Metabolic Services uses specialized medical equipment to determine where an individual’s body burns calories both at rest (RMR) and while exercising (FitMAP). The purpose of these two tests is to (1) determine how many calories YOUR body needs per day to exist optimally and (2) determine what heart rate your body burns the most calories directly from fat! Sound impossible? It’s not! Elite endurance athletes (like Lance Armstrong) have been doing it for at least a decade…and now we use the technology for Weight Loss and Sports Performance!

How does it work?
We’re able to gather this information by measuring your heart rate while we evaluate the mix of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your breath during rest and exercise conditions!

Where Do I test?
We regularly make trips to the Dallas metroplex (among other locations) for testing in addition to working from our home-base in Peachtree City, GA, located at 100 Peachtree Parkway N, Ste 11. For an additional fee, you can have either or both assessments done in the comfort of your own home, if you have the proper equipment available.

Weight loss is really just about simple math: calories in –> calories out. The problem is, most people don’t know how many calories they need to eat for their body. More often than not, individuals either consume too few calories causing their body to store fat despite attempts to lose or eat too many causing a weight gain. It’s virtually impossible to know this number by guessing or using generic formulas. No two people are the same!

In addition to not knowing how many calories they should eat exactly, most people (unless they have done a Metabolic Assessment) don’t know how many calories they actually burn during exercise. Commonly, individuals and exercise calculators factor the number of calories they’ve burned too high, causing an inaccurate picture of how much weight loss should be expected.

Our company, FitLab Metabolic Services, uses specialized medical equipment to acquire this unique information for individuals and, based on that information, we design a program to help client’s meet their individual goals. Our primary desire is to increase Cardiac (heart) health and decrease unhealthy body weight. We have never claimed, nor will we ever claim, to be the fastest way to lose weight. What we can claim, however, is an extremely high percentage of our clients who follow the program design are able to lose the weight and keep it off indefinitely. FitLab doesn’t want our clients to continue the weight loss “roller coaster” for the long term…it’s just not healthy and it’s extremely defeating.

Whether you ever contact FitLab Metabolic Services or not, there is one thing EVERY person who desires to lose weight should know: 1 lb of fat = 3500 calories.

Formula to lose 1 lb per week:

3500 calories ÷ 7 days = 500 calories

↓ 250 calories consumed + ↑ 250 burned during exercise = 500 deficit per day

Basically, if over a 7 day period you can decrease your daily intake by 500 calories per day from either diet, exercise, or a combination of both, you could lose approximately 1 pound per week. It may not seem like a lot but, conversely, if you eat 100 extra calories per day that your body can’t use, it can add up to almost 12 pounds per year. Knowing your exact information is the only way to get this thing right and keep it off long term through diet and exercise!

FitLab Metabolic Services’s Weight Loss class is a 12-week program that meets 3 times per week with a Certified FitLab Coach and Nutritional Advisor. As a member of FitLab Weight Loss, you will receive the benefits of a personalized program that is structured in a group format.

This system encourages accountability and peer interaction with those who have the same goals as you do – losing weight and keeping it off! At the beginning of the 12-week program, you and your FitLab Weight Loss Coach will determine your heart rate zones for optimal results and decide on a realistic weight loss goal. Success is based on setting realistic, measurable, obtainable goals. Whether you are whether you’re inactive or very active , this program is designed with you in mind!

What to Expect

Each week the workouts will become progressively more challenging to ensure you will meet your personal goal. During the entire session, your FitLab Coach will be there to facilitate, motivate, as well as provide professional support and guidance. The first 50-55 minutes of each session will incorporate heart rate “zone” training for cardio and upper body strength training to define muscles and increase your metabolism. The class will end with 5-10 minutes of CORE (balance and abs) training. This combination of exercise produces the quickest and most efficient results as well as making it a fun experience for you!!
